"I recently moved to Portland from LA. So it was time to find a new stylist. After several attempts at several salons, I have finally found the stylist I was looking for - and my hair!! Josh at Dezi Salon knows what he is doing. My hair is kinky curly, frizzy, out of control, and frankly has a mind of its own. Josh spent about an hour and half with me. His free consultation made me feel comfortable, relaxed, and excited to get my hair under control. Dezi has such a nice atmosphere. Relaxed yet professional. Everyone i encountered there was sweet and gracious and from the moment i got there i felt taken care of, even while simply making an appointment on the phone. I had my hair done by Josh and it was a pleasure. He is very personal and easy to talk to. I got exactly what i had envisioned in my mind, and i think he made sure since this was my first time ever coloring my hair to not do anything too extreme. The color looks totally natural. I had a great time chatting and laughing with Josh. I could tell that this is his passion and that he is very talented at what he does. I felt no pressure, no rush, he spent a lot of time with me and there was no pressure to buy anything afterwards. It is expensive but worth it. I'm very thankful to have found this place.

I just want to write a thank you to my hairstylist at Dezi salon. I LOVE my hair! I am having so much fun with my new style, plus the salon is very cute, its a little house. I will tell all my friends and classmates to come see Kristen for great hair, and I will be back. Thanks again! J

Dezi is a great little salon right in the heart of NW PDX. I consider it a hidden gem. As another review stated, it does not have the pretentious feel that many salons in the area can have. I have seen Heather as my stylist for over 3 years. I started with very long hair and decided to donate my hair to Locks of Love. About one year passed until I was ready to cut my hair for the donation. During this time, Heather helped me decide what haircut would best suit me and my lifestyle. It has been over 6 months since the change from long, flowing locks to an adorable pixie cut and I still have several compliments thoughout the week on how others like my newer hairstyle. I have referred several friends (all with varying types of hair) to Heather - she is very talented!

Pros: Friendly staff, ambience, good people watching from the front window :)

Cons: Street parking only

This is a great salon in a great location. I have had my hair cut by Heather. She does an awesome job. I followed her to Dezi from Ziva where she used to be. I like that she is flexible with scheduling appointments and her knowledge of hair products. My cuts always last me a long time. The salon staff is very friendly and the ambience of the salon is not over the top of stuffy like many overrated salons in this town.

Molly knows that before her, I hated my hair. So, every time I go in to Dezi she sits down with me and talks about what I like and don't like, how we are going to color it, and style it and makes me part of the conversation. I love that instead of telling me how it is going to be done like a lot of hair dressers, we sit and talk about pros and cons and different ways to style before she even picks up the scissors. It is a great plae to go and I have never left dissapointed.

Molly helped me in the hugest way by repairing a disaster haircut I received from a barbershop. I appreciated the way she promptly fit me in her schedule and I was impressed by her skill and accuracy. My hair turned out beautiful and it was possibley the best cut I have ever received. She is an artist.

I loved my experience at Dezi Salon. The staff was very friendly. My hairdresser, Josh, who I now drive over 80 miles to have "do" my hair, is professional and caring. He interviews before starting, exploring all the avenues of the "look" I am hoping for with each new hair-do. He takes his time, I never feel rushed, always feel like I am the only customer for the day. The front-desk man, Dan, is very helpful with appointment scheduling and hair product recommendations. The hair product for thinning hair has worked wonders on my husband's hair!
Thanks Dezi, for being a dependably great experience!

I recently began going to Josh at Dezi salon because a friend recommended me to him. Before that, I had the same lady for several years. This was a great change. My first visit with Josh, we just touched up my current hair cut, nothing too drastic, I was a little nervous. Second visit I changed my length and color a little more drastic and felt that after this visit, Josh was familiar with my hairs "personality." By the third visit, I was very comfortable and could really tell him what I wanted and didn't want out of my haircut. I wanted to go from shoulder length to ear length, which is a very big deal. Spending time finding the perfect cut in books and magazines, Josh even got me tea while we were waiting. During the hair cut, I could point any little piece of hair that I didn't like and Josh would fix it, constructive criticism is a strength of his. Over an hour later, my cut was complete. Not many stylists take that much time on just a cut. I absolutely love my new look, and have my fourth appointment already made. I know exactly what I want and know that Josh will do a great job. I wouldn't trust my hair to anybody else because I know that Josh knows my hair best.
For those people looking to have a relationship with their hair dresser, Josh, along with all the Dezi stylists are great. For those comments from unhappy customers that say Dezi is not worth it, I would recomment going back and giving your stylist another chance at "getting to know your hair." Everybody's hair is different, and I'm sure they will make it right.

I used to see Josh when he was working in Portland before...I have to admit, before that, I didn't pay to get my hair done at all, I did it myself. While he was gone to Seattle, I fell back into my old habit and ended up with long, limp hair that was two-toned; red on top and black on the bottom from grow out. When I found out MY stylist was back in town and right here at Dezi's, I made an appointment to fix this disaster! Josh took the time to find out exactly what I wanted, he took off weight without taking off length, took out the black and brought my hair closer to its natural color than ever before (exactly what I wanted). If you are looking for perfect color, I highly recommend his expertise.

Best Salon Around

All of the stylists at Dezi are Great. It's so nice to find an upscale salon that has a fun and friendly atmosphere! Every time I see Kiley I leave feeling and looking better then I had ever hoped for. You get more then what you pay for here, they truly care about what you want and just love to make their clients look great! I wouldn't ever dream of going to anyone else!

There are few times in a person' life where they can find a person who truly gets their hair. Keily is a goddss who can work color. Her color skills are impecable and her prices are very reseaonable. GO SEE KIELY!

My hair is naturally straight and dully, ash brown. I have been seeing Molly for 2 years and I have loved my hair ever since!! She is so creative and talented with a serious Passion for hair. She is always up on the latest fashions and can create any type of look. I have gone from a long and clean look to short and sassy with lots of layers. I have also gone to platinum blonde as well as a dark, rich carmel brown. Most of the time I just tell Molly to make me look fabulous and I let her artistic skills flow!
Not only is she talented, but Molly is hilarious and awesome to spend time with. She also uses amazing products and has great styling suggestions!

Kristen is Awsome

I was actually considering flying back to the Bay Area to see my previous stylist when my friends encouraged me to give Kristen a try. Let me emphasize--I AM OBSESSED WITH HAVING A GREAT CUT. I couldn't believe the way Kristen was able visualize what I wanted and did an AMAZING job. I was so lucky to find a local stylist that is so incredibly fantastic. MAKE AN APPOINTMENT NOW!

I absolutely adore Tina! Wonderful cut, wonderful atmosphere, wonderful staff... very welcoming. I love the shop, awesome location, easy to access, I can always find parking within a block, even on 23rd! Plus, I can always get an appointment soon, I don't have to wait two or three weeks to get in. Great value, great products, great place to go! I highly recommend stopping by to check it out.

Why would you go anywhere else?

I have been to several salons around town and found Dezi to be the best. Not only can they cut, color and style "CURLY" hair, they are fast. I used to get my hair done just up the street and it took over four hours for a cut, color and style. At Dezi I'm out within two hours and happy with my hair! I don't have to wait to get in to see my stylist, Kristen, and I don't have to wait 2-weeks for my hair to grow out to be happy. If you want a great hair cut, and don't have all day to hang out at the salon definitely check out DEZI!

down towns BEST KEPT SECRET!!!! but not for long!

I'm New to town and just stumbled across this great salon, as I was shopping on 23rd! The Best cut and The Best Color! This is defineatly where to go if you want to find the perfect place! The Stylists are hands down a perfect 10 !!! Thank you so much to the staff at Dezzi Salon!! I Have never looked so great or had so many compliments !!

Molly Klein

I love this place. The atmosphere is friendly, light and open. I am often put off by salons that I walk into feeling not cool enough to be there, but that is not the case here. There are no high pressure sales, the cuts I have gotten there are well worth it, and I will continue to come back because the staff are so nice. I really can't say enough good things about this salon.

Best Color Specialist!!!

I was referred to Dezi by my sister. I walked away w/ the best color job ever! I totally enjoyed the hip and cool atmosphere-the music put me at ease too and it was sooo relaxing. I love the balcony outside too! Right in the heart of 23rd.

A great salon!

I Can't say enough about this salon! I felt very welcome and my hair has never been cut as well. I have hard to deal with hair, and my grow out is always a problem. Not anymore! I also like the feel of the place, everyone is friendly, and down to earth. The back patio is a nice touch. I will be back!

Best Staff in Pdx!!!

Not only did I get the best cut/color, the staff was very friendly and knowledgable. The atmosphere was so relaxing too. I'll be going back for more and referring all of my friends and family.
